Myer Group is looking for an Asset Accounting Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end acquire to retire process. You will partner closely with the business to achieve accurate project reporting and timely capitalisation of assets. In addition, you will provide strategic insights and analysis to senior finance and business stakeholders, whilst championing continuous improvement in internal processes and controls in conjunction with other finance leaders.

About the role:
- Assist in the preparation of capital expenditure (CAPEX) business cases and track capital work-in-progress to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Accurately distinguish between CAPEX and OPEX to ensure all eligible costs are capitalised in accordance with Accounting Standards
- Ensure the timely capitalisation of project related expenditure into the fixed asset register.
- Maintain timely and accurate financial records for capital asset development in retail store fit outs as well as corporate capital investment (e.g. information technology).
- Partner with project teams to monitor project milestones and update cost-to-complete forecasts.
- Perform monthly variance analyses comparing actual spend vs budget, clearly articulating reasons for variances and impacts on project estimates.
- Collaborate with tax teams to assess the deductibility of CAPEX for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Identify, lead and implement process improvements (including change management) to enhance efficiency of project and asset accounting.
- Deliver timely, accurate and high-quality reporting to the Audit Committee, whilst ensuring transparency and compliance.
About you:
- Holds a Chartered Accountant or CPA qualification
- NetSuite experience is highly desirable, but not required
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, with 3–5 years in project accounting or a related function
- Strong ability to engage with senior stakeholders as a subject matter expert for project and asset accounting.
- Experience in project accounting within retail, infrastructure, development, or related industries.
- Understanding of accounting standard requirements for capitalisation
- Experience managing the financial aspects of fixed assets and projects, from business case to capitalization and decommissioning/disposal
- Strong presentation skills and experience conveying complex financial matters to a variety of senior audiences.
